Southwest Airlines, will you marry me?

I’m sitting on the airplane right now thinking about how much I heart Southwest Airlines. Seriously, I’m in love and I think I might propose. Douglas and I were talking about this the other day (not the proposal thing!) and we were saying “do the other airlines know what is going on here? I mean, do they have any idea about how much better Southwest is than the  other rip off airlines out there??” It’s absolutely crazy how much they try and rape your pocketbook for everything! And comical in a way how the big airlines have become such a cheapskate. Nickel and dime everything. Take United for example - is it funny to anyone else that they advertise “extra legroom” for like $75?? I mean, it’s 2 inches! I feel like some feeble peasant begging for a slice of bread, “please sir, may I have an extra inch or two?? My legs hurt so badly.” Even with those extra couple of inches I’m almost certain I would still be eating my knee caps. Oh and the obvious - charging for bringing LUGGAGE?? I mean, when is the last time you took a trip without a piece of luggage that couldn’t be jammed into the overhead luggage bin (cue the women pack too much jokes!). Seriously, who does that?? Business men and women out there - you cannot respond to that question! Ha (you can be bossy when you blog)!

My seat on this plane is quite comfy. Adequate legroom, super nice flight attendants and a ridiculously fast flight from Denver (DEN) to Tulsa (TUL) . I want to say I heard something like 50 minutes?? Is that possible? I’m more than happy with my experience thus far. Now, let’s just hope and pray that we make it to the ground in one piece, right? That would kind of blow the whole happy experience for me. Ha! God, I am jinxing myself just talking about it. (insert nervous laughter here…)

I’m going to close up the laptop and try to get a little shuteye for a bit. I’ll give you the rest of the story when I land. :)

UPDATE: Wow. What a pleasant experience.

My flight from Denver to Tulsa was perfect. I can’t sing their praises enough.

Tulsa (TUL) to New Orleans (MSY)…

I actually connected this flight in Dallas Love Field. However, let me start by saying this, I did not think I would make the flight as I showed up one hour before my flight - on the nose. But, I checked my bags, did the security thing, dashed up the escalator and there I was at the gate. The primary reason I thought this plane wasn’t going to take off was the weather. TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR in Tulsey-town. My mom was driving me and she was certain we were going to hydroplane! I just knew that inclement weather would be my demise…or so I thought. Much to my surprise, the weather did subside and the pilot came out and spoke to everyone at the gate informing them about the weather and that he saw no concerns about travel to Dallas Love Field. RELIEF!

The only problem that I encountered was my flight from Love Field (DAL) to New Orleans (MSY). However, the problem wasn’t a result of Southwest Airlines, it was the weather. Bad, bad rain. Delays all over the place. Nothing they could have done better, not like that at all. Southwest can do no wrong to me at this moment. :)

We were only one and a half or two hours behind schedule from my overall itinerary. We were on the plane, delayed a bit for take off because of congestion on the runway and the airspace we shared with DFW. They offered beverage service…I had to order a cocktail. Just a lot of stress, anxious to get to New Orleans, yadda yadda yadda. We had a quick 70 minute flight and I was there! My bags arrived immediately. It was perfect!

So, to conclude - Southwest Airlines - you’ve captured my heart. I’d really like it if we could continue hanging out, getting to know each other better. And, I know, it’s a little crazy to say this so early in the relationship, but I think I love you. Will you marry me? Okay, just think about it. xoxo!
